All tree traces removed, the Wilson family is back in their Holcomb Road home.
‘It took a long time ? it was a not so fun summer,? said Amy Wilson, who lives there with her husband, Greg, and their children Hailey, Abby, and Brady. ‘We’re so thankful no one was injured, and for the friendship.?
A tree in their front yard fell into the house during a rainstorm at night, June 18, driving branches into upstairs bedrooms and opening the house up to flooding.
They lived in a rental home during reconstruction.
‘Friends came out of the woodwork ? it was absolutely amazing,? Amy said.
Neighbor Dawn Frasa organized meals for the family a couple times a week all summer long.
‘It was one less thing to have to think about,? Amy said. ‘It was just phenomenal, all these people joining in her Kindness Wagon.?
The Wilsons hired Clarkston companies in the restoration work, including Paul Fox Roofing Company, Bob Wozniak of Signature Building, and Clarkston Tree Service.
Emergency responders as well as Clarkston Post Office also went above and beyond what they expected, Amy said.
‘The house couldn’t look better,? she said. ‘We’re home and looking forward to Thanksgiving.?
The home is almost 100 years old. Midwife Mary ‘Grandma? Green lived there, and it was a place mothers would go when it was time to give birth.
‘The tree is one more chapter in the history of the house,? Amy said. ‘The Birthing House is more beautiful than ever.?
