More than 300 area youth will have gifts this Christmas thanks to the generosity of the community. The Community Christmas Toy Store, which services children ages birth to 12 years of age that live in the Brandon School District, started a drive to collect toys in November. By Thursday Dec. 20 more than 300 area children will now have a present to open on Christmas morning.
‘That’s up from 230 (children) last year,? said Betty Stewart, CCTS coordinator. ‘We are very grateful to this community’the businesses and individuals? for stepping up. The need was great this year and the community delivered.?
Financially struggling parents had requested assistance. On Dec. 13 and 14 Brandon firefighters collected the toys from many area businesses and on Dec. 15 the toys were distributed.
The mission of CCTS is that every child is remembered at Christmas.
