Three step forward for village vacant land sale

Goodrich- Sold.
The village council accepted sealed bids totaling $31,052 for seven parcels of land in the Fairview Hills subdivision.
Council members Richard Saroli, Mark Baldwin and Pete Morey voted for the sale. Council members Rick Horton and Doug McAbee were absent from the meeting. Proceeds from the parcels will be applied to the general fund.
In 2011 the village council received the seven 100-by-200 parcels of property on Tara Court, located just east of State Road and north of Hegel Road.
According to the Genesee County Land Bank, the parcels were foreclosed on in 2008 for unpaid taxes and auctioned by the Genesee County Treasurer’s Office on Sept.16 for $13,384.
A second auction was held on Oct. 28, 2011 at no minimum bid. There were no buyers. Since that time, the village has been owners of the property and kept the land mowed in the summertime.
In February the village council voted to advertise the parcels in The Citizen newspaper requesting sealed bids with a minimum sale price of $3,500. A total of 15 bids were received for the parcels which ranged in cost from $3,700 to $5,252.
Those obtaining the property were Randy Gerold, Work Horse Properties of Madison Heights, Mich., Chase Harrell of Clarkston, Mich. and Michael Ender of Clarkston.
Bid winners were notified following the meeting.
