A visit from Three Men and a Tenor hit all the right notes with some middle school students last week.
The musical group visited Scripps and Oakview Middle Schools Friday, where they performed for the whole school and hosted a workshop for choir students. (Trips to Waldon Middle School and Lake Orion High School had to be cancelled due to a snow day on Thursday, but are being rescheduled.)
According to Scripps and Oakview choir teacher Cheryl Bongiorno, the visits became possible through a grant that Waldon choir teacher Jan Merz pursued through the Michigan Humanities Council for the Arts.
During the workshop, Bongiorno said Three Men and a Tenor spoke to the choir students not only about how they formed their group and got their start, but also how important it is to have confidence when you are on stage and how each person’s unique voice is special and helps the team.
‘I hope that seeing and hearing this wonderful quartet will inspire my students to continue singing in the future,? she added, noting that she hopes that the performance will help encourage more males to join the choir.
‘All four men (are) great role models for my students.?
The community will have a chance to enjoy the musical styling of Three Men and a Tenor on Thursday, Feb. 28, when the group will perform at Lake Orion High School at 7 p.m.
Tickets for the performance are available for $10 and will benefit Lake Orion’s Vocal Music Department. Tickets are available at the door and through the middle school choir directors.
