The Pines construction begins

Goodrich-Construction of The Pines Assisted Living Facility recently moved forward.
In January 2011 the village council voted 5-0 approving a planning commission recommendation for a zoning amendment from low density residential to commercial in the central business district of the village. The change to approximately five acres just north of Oxford Bank on State Road was necessary, say village officials, for the construction of an assisted living complex for senior citizens.
Ground breaking should begin later this summer for the project, which will include two 12,000 square foot buildings with about 20 units in each structure.
‘Based on our business model, we were a great fit for Goodrich,? said Randy Legault, president and operations owner of The Pines Assisted Living Homes. ‘We seek the small community and create a very homelike atmosphere.?
The company also has similar facilities in Burton, Clarkston, Lake Fenton, Lapeer and Swartz Creek.
‘We’re eager to get started and provide a service,? said Legault. ‘Look for one of the two buildings to be completed in early 2013’there will also be a facility for memory care. Area children who may be looking to help their parents find a place to live nearby should be right at home at The Pines.?
Jakki Sidge, village administrator, said the site plans have been reviewed.
‘Right now they are taking the house down on the property and clearing some trees,? she said. ‘The Pines will be a great asset to the village.?
