Noah Campbell and his classmates at Pine Knob Elementary celebrated Veterans Day talking to an active duty veteran ? Noah’s father.
His dad, Lt. Col. Sean Campbell, is stationed in Afghanistan.
Karen Head, Noah’s Pack 499 Webelo II den leader, asked the entire class to write letters to Sean and other service members. Also, Pack 499 is collecting donation items to send to Afghanistan.
‘When Sean told me he was deploying, I thought about what we could do as a class,? said Noah’s fifth-grade teacher, Heidi Wright. ‘Mrs. Head had a great idea.?
They also set up a Skype video link over the Internet between Sean and the class.
‘It took a couple weeks to set it up,? Wright said. ‘The kids are very excited. They’ve researched Afghanistan and wrote questions to ask him, and Noah is very excited to talk to his dad.?
The call came in as scheduled, Nov. 11, and lasted about an hour.
‘I want to thank you guys for remembering us on Veterans Day,? Sean said, via Skype.
