Swimmers win some, lose some

Facing stiff competition from Royal Oak, the Oxford Wildcat swim and dive team came up on the shallow end, losing 110-75.
Oxford managed three first-place finishes at the event. Anna Daves finished first with a time of 28.96 seconds in the 50-Yard Freestyle. In the 500-Yard Freestyle, Jenna Mallard finished first with a time of 6:02.18. The Oxford A Relay Team of Daves, Ellen Saville, Claire Patrell and Mallard finished first in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 4:19.28.
Against a consolidated Flint Kearsley-Clio team Oct. 21, the Wildcat swimmers and divers, Oxford continued its winning ways with a 113-73 victory.
Oxford took first place in all but one event and set two records’one a new team record and the other a personal best.
Allison Woonton swam her way to a new school record in the 200-Yard Freestyle with a 2:14.49 time, eclipsing Mallard’s previous record-breaking time of 2:17.05 that Mallard had set earlier this season.
Woonton also took first-place honors in the 100-Yard Backstroke.
Mallard, meanwhile, swam to a second-place finish in the 100-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:25.55’a new personal best for her. She also finished first in the 500-Yard Free.
Among the other first-place winners were the Oxford A Relay Team in the 200-Yard Medley Relay; the A Relay Team in the 200-Yard Free Relay; the A Relay Team in the 400-Yard Free Relay; Patrell in the 200-Yard Individual Medley and the 100-Yard Fly; Daves in the 50-Yard Freestyle and the 100-Yard Free; Olivia Martin in the diving competition;
The Oxford swimmers dominated the 500-Yard Free, taking the first three places in the event for 13 total points. Mallard finished first at 6:10.32, Skelton second and Kimmel finished third.
Woonton took first place with a time of 1:08.58 in the 100-Yard Backstroke while Sunman finished second and Kara Charles swam to fourth.
