Despite a slow season, the Lake Orion High School Girls Swimming and Diving Team pulled out a fourth place finish in the OAA Division II League Meet on Nov. 7.
The Dragons finished with 306.5 points, with Bloomfield Hills Andover trailing behind in fifth (251 points), and Berkley High School in sixth (177 points). West Bloomfield won the meet with 495.5 points.
Rochester finished second (373 points), and Troy Athens was third (361 points).
Lake Orion sophomore Emily Roesch took the Dragons’ only first place finish, in the 500 yard freestyle, with a time of 5:26.75.
Lake Orion finished second in the 200 yard freestyle (Emily Roesch, 2:00.66), 50 yard freestyle (sophomore Perry Mitchell, 26.13), and in the 100 yard backstroke (Mitchell, 1:04.20). Lake Orion was also second in the 200 yard freestyle relay, with a time of 1:44.59.
The Dragons posted third place finishes in the league meet in the 200 yard medley relay (1:58.49), the 100 yard backstroke (junior Erin Sutton, 1:04.71), and the 400 yard freestyle relay, with a time of 3:51.52.
Lake Orion hosted the Orion Invitational on Nov. 11. The season wraps up with the Michigan High School Athletic Association Diving Regionals on Nov. 18, and the state meet on Nov. 21.
