The Wildcats varsity girl swimmers headed into a showdown in the OAA Blue division against Clarkston and came just short, losing 109-77.
Head Coach Jackie Rank was pleased with how well the girls swam, despite battling injuries and sickness. Oxford currently sits at 2-1 in the blue division, and 3-2 overall.
The results are as follows:
200 Medley Relay: The A relay of senior captain Jenna Mallard, sophomore Laura Zorle, freshman Haley Kornburger and junior Amanda delaPaz came in second and established a school record with their time of 2:03.50.
200 Freestyle: Sophomore Casey Keils had a personal best with her third place time of 2:14.32, while senior Sarah Skelton finished fourth.
200 Individual Medley: Kornburger came in first with a record time of 2:18.40, which also qualified her for the state meet. Freshman Elizabeth Wilkins was fifth.
50 Freestyle: Mallard came in second with a time of 27.55, while delaPaz finished third.
Diving: Senior Jade Casadei set a school record by nearly 30 points with her diving score of 201.1, which was the most point scored by an Oxford diver on six dives, either male or female. Senior Janine Huelsman was fifth for the Wildcats.
100 Butterfly: Junior Brooklyn Allen finished fourth for Oxford with a time of 1:25.91 and Zorle was fifth.
100 Freestyle: Keils was second for Oxford with a time of 1:01.90. delaPaz was third and senior Anna Daves was fifth.
500 Freestyle: Mallard came in first for Oxford with her time of 5:55.61, while freshman Kati Flanagan was fourth.
200 Freestyle Relay: The A relay team of Kornburger, Daves, Keils and delaPaz finished first with a time of 1:52.29. Kornburgers lead-off leg time of 25.84 set a record for the 50 Freestyle. The B relay of senior Jasmine Vickery, Zorle, Wilkins and freshman Rose Crane was third.
100 Backstroke: Sophomore Caitlyn Wroblewski was third for the Wildcats with her time of 1:19.94. Sophomore Miranda Murphy and Vickery was fourth and fifth respectively.
100 Breaststroke: Zorle finished second for Oxford with a time of 1:20.27. Wilkins was third and junior Emily Gilmore was fifth.
400 Freestyle Relay: The A relay of Skelton, Keils, Daves and Mallard finished second with a time of 4:10.70.
The girls swim against Lapeer East on Sept. 28 before traveling to Waterford Mott High School for the Oakland County Meets on Oct. 1-2, where all three relay teams will be swimming, Casadei will be diving and Kornburger will swim in two individual events.
