Clarkston did not fare so well as a team in the pool this past week, losing to 117-69 to Berkley on Jan. 17 and 108-73 to Rochester Adams on Jan. 19.
Taking the edge off somewhat was Jim Peers who became the third Wolves swimmer to make the cut for the Oakland County meet to be held on Feb. 4.
Peers qualified for the county meet in the 500 freestyle against Adams, joining Matt Inch (200 and 500 freestyle) and Josh Badgerow (100 fly and 100 freestyle) who qualified for the county meet in the Wolves first match of the season on Dec. 20.
‘I would have liked to be a little farther along at this point in the season,? Clarkston Coach Kenwyn Chock said. ‘There are two weeks left before (the county meet). We basically have this week to get someone else in there.?
Clarkston’s match against Harrison at home on Jan. 24 finished too late for this edition of The Clarkston News.
?(The Harrison meet) will be the last time they can qualify for (the county meet),? Chock said.
After the county meet, the swim team’s focus switches to the OAA DII league meet on Feb. 21 and obtaining an elusive berth on the state level.
‘We’re trying to get somebody to states. It’s just how healthy they stay and how hard they train,? Chock said.
