Swartz Creek falls, records broken

The Oxford Varsity girls swim team lost to Fenton, but beat Swartz Creek at their double-dual meet last Thursday.
Oxford was no match for Fenton’s first place wins in every event, for a total score of 126-57. The Wildcats, however, were able to defeat Swartz Creek 115-68, and break school records at the same time.
New records were set for the 200 medley relay by sophomore Allison Woonton, freshman Jenna Mallard, senior Anna Bonfiglio and freshman Anna Daves; the 200 free-style by senior Tara Nieboer, the 100 butterfly by senior Jen Smillie, and the 500 free-style by Woonton.
Oxford brought home first place wins in events like the 200 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 100 free-style, 500 free-style, 200 free-relay, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, and the 400 free-style relay.
Divers Olivia Martin and Molly Bonfiglio, both sophomores, took second and third at their events, respectively.
The girls? overall record is 2-3-1 and 2-1-1 in the Flint Metro League. They travel to Brandon for a double-dual meet with the Hawks and Lapeer this Thursday.
