A 46-year-old man from Madison Heights suspected of stealing a red Ford F-150 from Milford is on the loose after he fled from Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies in Oxford Township on Friday around 9:30 p.m.
According to the sheriff’s report, a deputy initiated a traffic stop at Lapeer and Drahner roads for a possible drunk driver when the man took off heading east on Drahner Road toward Addison Township.
Det. Guy Hubble, of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department Oxford sub-station, said the deputy chased the man at speeds of 30 to 35 miles per hour.
The suspect turned north onto Lake George Road, stopped the truck, jumped out and fled on foot into the woods.
The deputy heard ‘screaming and crying? from the vacated truck and found a 46-year-old woman from Detroit in the passenger seat.
The woman told deputies she was ‘kidnapped? and held against her will using either a knife or screwdriver, but Hubble said the woman later admitted she was a prostitute the suspect picked up at 8 Mile and Dequindre.
A K-9 unit, Air-2 unit and numerous patrol vehicles searched the wooded area with no sign of the suspect. ‘I don’t know how he got away,? Hubble said. ‘They were right on top of him.?
Hubble said the crime lab will be finger-printing the truck in search of a match to the suspect. If you have any information, please call the Oxford sub-station at (248) 969-3077.
