After beating Lahser 3-2 on Feb. 15 for their second win in a row Clarkston’s volleyball team knows what being on a roll feels like.
The turning point of what was to be Clarkston’s second straight win in the league came in the third set. With the match tied 1-1, the Wolves rallied from a 24-16 deficit to win the third set 27-25.
Clarkston lost the fourth set 25-19, but won the fifth 15-13 to clinch the match.
Laura Kupe led Clarkston with 11 kills and Julliann Gillespie stood out on defense with seven blocks.
Coupled with their 3-2 win over Groves on Feb. 13, the Wolves have now won back to back league games for the first time this year. While they are far out of contention for the OAA I title with a 3-7 record, Clarkston Coach Kelly Avenall hopes her team can build on their recent success with districts right around the corner.
The Wolves have one final tournament at Andover on Feb. 25, before heading to Stoney Creek on March 3 for districts.
Clarkston faces host school Stoney Creek at 7 p.m. on March 3. Should they advance the Wolves face Eisenhower in the district semifinals on March 4 at noon. The district final is set to go at 2:30 p.m. on March 4.
