Strong showing for X-country at league championships

The Oxford Cross Country team continued to improve in hopes of making a very large statement in upcoming state championships.
Coach Matt Johnson said the boys and girls each had strong showings in the OAA league championships with the boys dropping a huge 40 seconds off the team average.
On the girls? side, the Wildcat’s Brooke Kovacic had a break out race, running a 21-second personal best on the season. She set her personal best time under 18 minutes for the 5,000 meters at 17:50.7 to win the event ahead of all female runners.
The Oxford girls finished third overall. Jenna Feeney, Hannah Long, Sabrina Smith, Reilly Squarcia, Christiana Bruce, Kristen Godwin and Abby Wrobel all helped the Cats to the third-place finish.
Ryan Gillespie led the boys by running to a seventh-place finish overall. Joey Ufolla was 15th. Ross Chapman, Noah Jenkins, Jacob Schenten, Aaron Pletta, Logan Bruni and Ricky Dvorak were the Wildcats? other runners who helped drop the team’s average by 40 seconds.
