There’s only one spot in Oxford where you can learn all about this community’s connections to the Lone Ranger, gravel pits, railroads, Ty Cobb, World War I, corn flakes, the big cyclone of 1896 and so much more.
That place is the Northeast Oakland Historical Museum, located downtown at 1 N. Washington St.
On Friday, Daniel Axford second-graders from teacher Lee Phillips? class received a private, guided tour of the museum.
The kids got a detailed lesson on how very different Oxford used to look back in the 19th and early 20th centuries. They also learned how people worked, played, dressed, ate, did school work and socialized back in the good old days.
The museum is open every Saturday from 1-4 p.m. and during the summer, on Wednesdays from 1-4 p.m. Private tours are available upon request. ? Editor C.J. Carnacchio
