Springfield Township Board voted unanimously, March 11, to approve millage language for parks and recreation.
The ballot proposal would levy .75 mill on township residents for four years, 2011-2013, to provide funds to develop, maintain, and operate parks, preserves, recreational sites, facilities, trails, programs, and services managed and/or owned by the township.
The millage would collect 75 cents per $1,000 of taxable property value, an estimated $428,360.68 total.
Friends of the Parks drafted the proposal to avoid interfering with township police and fire millages. The police millage comes up for renewal in 2016, and the fire millage, 2017.
Voters will decide Aug. 3.
