Brandon Twp.-Brandon High School’s latest theater production offers something for everybody.
The school is presenting ‘Spotlight on Broadway ? Part 2? at 7 p.m. Nov. 5-6 at the BHS Performing Arts Center. The production incorporates five classic plays spanning the range of theater ? among them are Oliver, Arsenic and Old Lace, Brigadoon, The Miracle Worker.
‘It’s kind of a continuation of the one we did two years ago (the original Spotlight on Broadway),? said Cathy Ciesielski, the play’s director and an English/humanities teacher at BHS. ‘In the story line, Pop (a playwright) is saddened because a theater is closing down, but several stars from his plays return to perform excerpts from five of his favorite productions.?
About 30 students are involved putting the play together, Ciesielski said, and they have been rehearsing the play for the past six weeks, and average about three hours per day every day after school.
‘It’s been a fun experience,? he said. ‘The kids have really been enjoying putting this together.?
The show is presented at 7 p.m. both evenings. Tickets cost $6 for adults and $4 for students and seniors.
