There were lots of soaking wet kids ? and a few adults, too ? at First Baptist Church of Oxford last week.
No, the church was not holding some sort of mass baptism.
It was all part of the Neighborhood Bible Time activities held from July 14-18 for kids in first through eighth grade.
To help beat the extreme summer heat, a giant plastic sheet was coated with water and baby soap, so the kids could engage in some friendly competition.
In one game, teams of boys and girls scored points by seeing who could be the first to tug an inner tub off the sheet as they slipped and slid all over the place.
After that was over, they all took turns seeing who could slide the farthest across the slick surface.
