Spikers win first league game

The Oxford varsity volleyball team swept the Clio Mustangs in their first home league game of the season. Oxford won 25-20, 25-17 and 25-13.
Senior captain Karlyn Stroope continued to be a force to be reckoned with, garnering 13 kills and five blocks.
Junior Brittany Moncrieff had six kills and 12 digs, while senior middle hitter, Kelsey Giradot, had five kills and two blocks. Running the offense was senior captain Laura Brown with 15 kill assists.
‘Clio’s defense was very strong, but our hitters were able to overcome,? said coach Kristi McDevitt. ‘We overpowered them with our offense.?
Oxford improves their record to 2-0 in the Flint Metro League and 9-4-1 overall.
The Wildcats will be hosting a game against league rival, Fenton, on Thursday at 7 p.m.
