To most, the idea of participating in a spelling bee might sound just a bit nerve-wracking.
But 24 Webber Elementary fifth graders were able to overcome those nerves and put on a thrilling show at the school’s spelling bee on Jan. 27.
The winner was Sean Brady, who correctly spelled permanent to win the competition.
Brady and fellow competitor Madison Preuss went head-to-head for quite a while, with both students having a chance to win the contest.
Brayton Boyd finished in third place.
In all, about 240 words were spelled by the participants.
Brady will move on to the regional competition at Oakland University in March.
