Springfield Plains Lego Robotics Team advanced to the State Championship!
On Nov. 13, SPE attended the regional competition at Lakeland High school. A total of 26 teams were competed including six from Clarkston; two from Independence Elementary, two from Cedar Crest Academy, and one from Springfield Plains Elementary.
The Springfield Plains team was composed of six fifth grade and two fourth grade students. The team worked hard for two months to build a robust robot with innovative programming and a high level of technical expertise. The team completed their goals, and demonstrated respect for all team members.
Alex Hardy, Clarkston High School mentor, volunteered many hours to assist the students through their first season as participants on the Lego robotics team. After the competition on Dec. 11, Springfield Plains Elementary finished in the top five for the ‘Robust Design Award.?
The team is now off to State Finals.
