Softball team batting .500

The Oxford Varsity girls softball team is holding steady to a record of 2-2 after playing Waterford Mott, Kettering and Grand Blanc last week.
Against Mott on Tuesday, the Wildcats scored their first win of the season 3-1, with senior captain Amanda Jolly and junior Kelsey Oliver each scoring runs.
The girls were also great on their defense, contributing to three double plays against Mott.
On Thursday, the Wildcat’s roar was silenced with a 0-2 loss to the Kettering Captains, due to poor offense and four defensive errors.
On Saturday, the girls head a double-header against Grand Blanc, losing the first game 10-5 and winning the second 4-3.
In game one, Oliver scored one run and two RBI’s, while junior captain Lauren LaCroix and junior Nicole Laidlaw each scored one run.
In game two, LaCroix had a game winning 2 RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs, helping Oxford dominate Grand Blanc 4-3.
Allie Laidlaw also had one run scored, while freshman Corrine Luxton had one RBI.
‘It was a much better showing in game two,? said Coach Sue Roeher. ‘There was great team effort to continue fighting through the innings.?
The girls travel to Lake Orion High School for a 4 p.m. game tonight.
