The Dragon girls? soccer season ended Saturday morning with a loss at Grand Blanc in a district championship game.
Lake Orion beat both Lakeland (5-0) and Clarkston (2-0) to advance to the finals, where Grand Blanc took a 4-1 decision.
‘The shot totals and chances were even, but Grand Blanc won on the scoreboard,? Coach Ken Snage noted.
Lake Orion’s goal came on a Niki Read penalty kick, after teammate Shannon Doyle was taken down in the box.
Hailey Redd made 10 saves for Lake Orion, whose season ended with a mark of 12-9-2.
Against Clarkston, Jessica Labond and Julianne Boyle scored the goals for Lake Orion, with Redd recording the shutout.
‘It was a typical Orion-Clarkston game with lots of battles,? Snage noted.
The game was played Thursday afternoon at LOHS to accommodate events that evening for both schools.
In the home victory over Lakeland, Boyle scored two goals and Doyle added a goal and three assists. Caitlin Clemence and Read also scored for LO.
