Students from Sashabaw Middle School invited seniors from the Independence Township Senior Center to an ice cream social event on May 18 to cap their service learning project on the Great Depression.
The students not only researched textbooks, but also were fortunate enought to hear real life stories.
‘I think the students learned more this way than just reading about the ‘Depression? in books,? said Margaret Bartos, Independence Township Senior Center director.
‘I think this is an excellent generational program.?
