Goodrich’s varsity girls soccer team got on the winning side of the ledger against Carman-Ainsworth April 24.
Ali Smith scored about 10 minutes into the first half and Airelle Robinson scored about 20 minutes later as the Martians earned a 2-1 victory at Carmen-Ainsworth. The Martians improved to 3-2-1 overall.
Goaltender Brittany Beard stopped nine shots for the Martians.
In an April 22 tournament at Lapeer East, the Martians went 1-1-1 on the day. Goodrich started the day with a 4-0 loss against the host Eagles, then battled to a scoreless tie against Owosso before defeating Bay City John Glenn.
Goodrich assistant coach Josh Watson (who is coaching the Martians in the absence of Nigel Barnett, who as of press time was in England after the death of his mother), said the Martians have a couple of injuries to contend with.
Sophomore Jolynn Zirnhelt has a broken arm and will be out between four and six weeks, while sophomore Britt Lemonds has a separated shoulder. Watson said he does not know at this point how long Lemonds will be out.
