The varsity Baseball team finally lost in the Flint Metro League after splitting an April 26 double-header against Flint Kearsley.
Oxford won the opening game 6-0 behind a strong pitching performance from senior Billy Kammerer, who tossed a three hit shutout, striking out five and walking two. He also had two hits and a RBI.
The games’s biggest hit came off the batt of senior Mitch Stefanski, who hit a two run triple to break the game open. Three Wildcats also contributed two hits each, junior Keith Paslean, sophomore Kyle Hartwick and sophomore Matt Economou.
Kearsley was able to quiet Oxford’s bats in game two of the double header and pull out a 2-1 victory. Oxford was only able to muster six hits off of Kearsley’s starting pitcher, who pitched a complete game.
Senior Eric Perry started the game for Oxford and went six and two-third innings, allowing only two runs while striking out three and walking three. He had two of the Wildcats six hits and the only RBI.
Overall, Oxford is 7-4-1 on the season, and 3-1 in the Flint Metro League standings. They play a double-header at home against Walled Lake Western April 30 beginning at 4:30 p.m. before traveling to Lapeer West for two games on May 3.
