When Tina Parenti learned her salon was closing its Waterford location, she and her husband Dave Parenti saw an opportunity.
‘The girls are a pleasure to work with, a fantastic team, like a family. They wanted to stay together, and we wanted to provide a place to do that,? Tina said. “They put an idea in my head. We talked about it and decided to give it a try.”
“We decided to take a chance,” Dave said.
So they opened the new Sienna Salon and Day Spa in Independence Township, at 6160 Dixie Highway.
With six stylists, three nail technicians, massage therapist, and receptionists, they offer a full range of salon services.
Dave and Tina have extensive business and management experience, but this is their first salon.
‘It’s a challenge, we’re still learning,” Tina said.
“The crew taught us a lot,” said Dave, who used his engineering experience in the automotive industry to design the new studio.
The location is ideal, he said.
“It’s a great location, next to Pete’s Coney Island,? he said. ‘Everyone in the building is wonderful.?
“We love this space,” Tina said.
They plan to hire another stylist and add facials and other skin care services, Dave said.
The name of the salon was inspired by trips to Europe.
“We wanted that look, a Euro and modern atmosphere,” Tina said.
“We looked at a map of Italy and found the town of Siena, which we’ve been to,? Dave said. ‘It’s also a color, which is appropriate for a salon.?
