An 85-mile long rummage sale, to be held May 1, is being planned to acquaint visitors with all of the recreational opportunities along the M-15 corridor.
From Ortonville to Vassar, ‘Miles of Smiles? weekend shoppers will find unique shops, delectable dining, and a treasure trove of good buys.
Make a day of it by bringing a friend to help make warm-weather recreational plans along the M-15 corridor. Communities along the route will offer summer festivals, camping, fishing, biking, hiking, and horse-back riding. You’ll find antique shops, ice cream parlours, and freshly baked goods, as well as clothing stores, cultural opportunities, restaurants, parks, and home town charm.
M-15 was named Michigan’s first Heritage Route by the Michigan Department of Transportation in 1998.
According to the MDOT site, the Heritage Route program is a grass-roots initiative offering communities the opportunity to maintain their identities and values by preserving the historic resources, natural beauty and recreational opportunities along Michigan’s state highways.
The program also encourages communities to form new local and governmental partnerships, and to enhance the community’s role in the growing tourism industry through promotion of the Heritage Route. For more details visit our classified advertising section in today’s edition.
