Septic problem out, home repair in

Although Addison Township originally decided last month to allocate $8,737 of their 2007 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) monies to help fund an initial engineering study for the Village of Leonard’s septic problem, they had to revise their plans Dec. 18.
Because the village hasn’t submitted any type of plan for a sewer improvement project, the township cannot dedicate funds for it.
Addison Twp. Supervisor Bob Koski in a memo dated Dec. 11 wrote that the $8,737 should now be used for the CDBG’s new Minor Home Repair/ Mobile Homes program.
‘They’ve just opened up the mobile home aspect (where) before that was prohibited,? Koski said.
The money will go towards repairs at Hidden Lakes Estates in the township.
The Minor Home Repair program assists residents in making needed repairs to homes which will increase their value, decrease utility bills and help revitalize the neighborhood.
‘That is not to pay for their gas bill,? Koski said. ‘It’s to fix their furnace so they can pay their gas bill.?
