Smiles were on the faces of nearly 20 seniors from Independence Village of Waterstone and other surronding senior centers as six riders mounted horses and strutted their stuff to different themed music at Ashley Oaks Farm on Thursday, Sept. 10.
The weather could not have been more cooperative for the event that has drawn seniors for the past five years.
There were four parts to the performance, the first being the Caribbean Quadrille, where four riders demonstrated some of the skills and techniques they use.
Gail Anderson rode Tempest, Paige Anderson rode Ned, Mary Brown rode Bailey and Laura Decker rode Lucas during the Quadrille.
There was an East vs. West event, where Ashley rode Bailey representing the East and Debbi Johnson rode Jolli for the West. Ashley was dressed in the traditional Equestrian gear, while Johnson wore jeans and a cowgirl hat.
Gail Anderson then took the stage riding Tempest and delighted the crowd with a series of twists, turns and struts. Laura Decker finished the performance by riding Estrada.
The seniors were served cupcakes, juice and water when the performances were over.
‘It’s exciting for all the practices and performances coming together,? said Ashley. ‘The seniors enjoy it no matter how it turns out.?
