Goodrich – It’s not unusual to have a set of twins in a school. Even two or three sets of twins would seem to be within normal range.
But at Reid Elementary School, in kindergarten alone, there are eight sets of twins.
‘We knew that having eight sets of twins in kindergarten was a phenomenon, so we decided to gather them together for a picture in our yearbook and to introduce them to each other during a luncheon,? said Kindergarten teacher Beth Millerschin, during the event at noon, May 2. ‘People are always astonished when we tell them we have eight sets of twins.? There is only one set of identical twins, J’Lenet and Raelyn Davis. Darrell and Terance Hart are the only set of boy twins. The rest of the twins are fraternal. There are three sets of fraternal girl twins and three sets of fraternal boy/girl twins.
‘My boys were conceived through in-vitro fertilization. I think there are a lot more twins being born now because the technology is so advanced,? said Denise Hart, the mother of Darrell and Terance.
Hart said this was the first set of twins in three generations for the Hart family. ‘Since I have had the twins, I have been amazed at how many other twins will come up to me and say they are a twin. I think it’s amazing that there are so many twins in Darrell’s and Terance’s kindergarten at Reid,? said Hart.
Explaining to Darrell and Terance why they are twins, Hart said, has been a challenge. ‘They are still so young and they don’t yet realize what it is to be a twin. It was hard for me to explain to them why I dress them the same and how they were born on the same day.?
Hart said she asked the school to split the boys up into separate kindergarten classes so they would grow as individuals.
