Season ended by St. Mary’s

Jeremy Messing tied up Clarkston’s quarterfinals game last Wednesday against East Kentwood with a second-period goal, leading the way to a 4-1 victory.
Kentwood (11-16-1) struck first with a goal by Tyler Copeland in the first period, but were unable to hold off he Wolves? second-period performance.
Tyler Frakes scored Clarkston’s second point with an assist from Aaron Podbielski and Adam Frank.
Jack Schlau added one more point to the board, assisted by Jeff Thomson and Nick Posawatz.
The final goal for the night was made by Frank, assist from Podbielski.
Garrett Knappe made 30 saves.
The Wolves took on Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Friday night for a chance to play in the finals, but fell 2-0.
St. Mary’s advanced to semifinals by beating Ann Arbor Pioneer, 6-1.
‘I thought we played well,? said coach Bryan Krygier. ‘We played and gave it all we had.?
Clarkston went into the third period behind by one, but were shut out by St. Mary’s offence, outshooting Clarkston 25-17.
‘There were a lot of teams that would have liked to have been in our position,? Krygier said. ‘I think that it was a good accomplishment to get to the semifinals. That’s how you want to think of it – the next closest thing to the finals.?
Clarkston ended the season with an overall record of 11-16-2.
