Congratulations to Lakeville Elementary secretary Donna Burton for winning one of the three Oakland County Betty Campion Distinguished Support Staff awards on Monday.
The award is given out by the Oakland County School Board Association in an effort to acknowledge those individuals in school districts who make a valuable contribution, but who are seldom recognized.
Burton was chosen from an outstanding field of candidates representing secretaries, custodians, cafeteria workers, bus drivers and technology specialists in the Oxford to represent the district.
The very humble secretary said she was ‘flabbergasted? when she found out she won, but that it was an ‘honor? to win such an award.
Burton will be honored at the Oakland County School Boards Association dinner on June 20, where she will receive a plaque and a check for $250.
