Goodrich-The school board voted 6-0 on Monday night to provide two sections of full-day kindergarten. A total of 44 students are needed, with a maximum of 50, for the classes which are set to begin this fall.
Three sections of half-day kindergarten, two morning and one afternoon, will also be made available.

Last August, the Michigan legislature passed a new education funding law which aims to encourage school districts to offer full-day kindergarten. Currently, half-day and full-day kindergarten programs get the same amount of per-pupil funding.
Beginning in 2010, full-day kindergarten will continue to get the full amount, while half-day programs will get half their current funding.
