School board names new trustee

Goodrich-By a 5-1 vote Monday night, district resident Lynne Morisette was appointed to the school district board of trustees, replacing long-time Trustee Michael Thorpe, who resigned on May 6.
Trustee Linda Jackson voted no on the appointment, however, declined comment on the issue as of press time.
School Board President Michael Tripp said the decision was based on track record and past activities with the school district.
Morisette will now serve until June 30, 2010 and have the opportunity to run for the seat on the May 2010 school board ballot. If elected, the term will expire in 2011. She was selected from a group of individuals including Sheila Blickensdorf, Paul Cottrell, Mark Griffiths and Kevin Smith.
Morisette, a Hadley native and Lapeer High School graduate, has lived in the district since 2004 with two children, Mason Bays, 16, and Deklyn Bays, 7. She is currently working toward a marketing management degree from Davenport University and works with her spouse, Daniel Bays, in a family construction business.
