On the morning of July 30, Independence Township police responded to a car fire at a Sashabaw Road residence near Pelton Road.
According to the police report, the fire was extinguished by the resident with a garden hose. Apparently, a passerby noticed the car on fire around 6:15 a.m. and pounded on the door until the resident answered.
The car is owned by the resident’s son who was away for the night.
