Dozens of mouth-watering dishes will be served up at the 13th Annual Taste of Clarkston, 12-6 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 26, in downtown Clarkston.
More than 30 restaurants are set to participate, offering samples of their best entrees, desserts and beverages.
“This is my second Taste with the Woodshop, 12th for the Union,” said Erich Lines, co-owner of the Union Woodshop. “I hope the weather’s nice, to bring the people out.”
The restaurant will offer pulled pork sliders, housemade smoked hot dogs, and butterscotch pudding.
“It’s the best pulled pork sandwich around,”Lines said. “I’ve always liked Taste of Clarkston ? the response has been very positive.
Gregg’s Gourmet Cafe will serve pasta alfredo, lemon chicken wings, and cream cheese marbled brownies
“Everyone loves the wings,” said Donna Butora, manager. “And I really like the pasta alfredo. It’s really good, some of the best I’ve ever had.”
Pita Way, in its first Taste of Clarkston, offers chicken or beef shawarma, lentil soup, hummus with pita chips
“Chicken shawarma is one of our most popular sellers ? the flavor keeps people coming back,” said owner Brandon Bahoura.
Bullfrog’s Bar and Grill serves up BBQ rib tips, BBQ wings, venison/chicken chili, and BBQ pizza.
“Our ribs are very tender ? they fall off the bone,” said Sandy Stormer, server. “We make some of the best venison around, and make everything fresh.”
Taste of Clarkston is always very busy, Stormer said.
“We see a lot of people in the commuity,” she said. “A lot of people don’t venture up this way (to the restaurant’s Ortonville location), but they try something on our menu and realize we’re not that far away.”
Tickets will be sold in $1 increments. Drinks are 1-2 tickets, several entrees and desserts for 3-4, with some larger entrees for 10-12.
Taste of Clarkston also includes free entertainment on Main Street stages at Waldon Road and Washington Street, and the gazebo in Depot Park, andgames and activities in Depot Park.
“There a variety of things going on, with the food, live bands, Kidzone in Depot Park,” Lines said. “There’s something for everyone.”
Main Street, Washington, Buffalo, Church, and parts of Depot Road will be closed for the event, 6 a.m.-9 p.m.
Free shuttles will be available from school parking lots on Waldon Road, and Clarkston High School on Flemings Lake Road.
