Rules for burning in Brandon Township

Currently the Brandon Fire Department is issuing 2004 burning permits which will be good for one year.
Brandon Township Burning Permits must be obtained from: Brandon Fire Station One 53 South St.Ortonville Brandon Fire Station Two 3065 South Sashabaw Road
n Open burning is allowed by permit only and shall be issued by the fire department subject to the rules of the department.
n Open burning is allowed from April 1st through Nov 30 from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
n Parcels of less than 3 acres must follow burn date calendar.
n All materials being burned must be from the site. No materials can be brought to the site for purpose of disposal.
n No burning shall be permitted within 50 feet of any structure.
n Campfires must be smaller than three feet in diam eter (no permit required), using dry, seasoned wood only.
n Recreational fires (bonfires) must be no larger than six feet in diameter. A permit must be issued on the day the fire will occur and must be extinguished by midnight.
n No burning in the road right-of-way.
n No flammable liquids shall be permitted to ignite the fire.
n Fire must be attended at all times by someone 18 years of age or older.
n No burning shall be allowed on construction sites.
n No burning in windy or drought conditions.
n The size of the pile to be burned shall be no larger than six feet in diameter.
n Burning violations may be subject to fines in accor dance to Brandon Township and village ordinances.
**Burning is allowed every first and third Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday of the month.
