It was a rough week for the Wildcat Varsity Lacrosse team as the offense struggled to score goals in their two games this week.
In their first game against Swartz Creek on Monday, April 19, the Wildcats lost a tough 5-4 decision in a game that was close throughout.
‘It was a game we felt like we could have won, but we couldn’t get our offense going,? said Head Coach Joe Zmikly.
Trailing 2-1 at halftime, the game turned physical on the Wildcats, but Zmikly was proud of the fact that his team kept his cool.
Goal scorers for the Wildcats were freshman Piper Thaler with two goals while sophomore Garrett Kovacic and junior Josh Kimbrough each scored once for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats had a rough time against Davison, losing 13-3.
Oxford’s goals were scored by junior Austin Bryant, Piper Thaler and junior Konrad Thaler.
Zmikly indicated that the guys played hard during their game against Davison, but he could tell they were pressing.
‘I think a lot of guys are trying to take it all on their shoulders, so we need to work on sharing the ball and getting more motion on offense,? said Zmikly. ‘We just need to play our game and we will be ok.?
The team gets three more chances this week to claim victory as they go on the road to face Port Huron on Tuesday, April 27, Lake Orion on Thursday, April 29 and Heritage High School on May 1.
