Robotics team now to call Brandon High School home

The Truck Town Thunder Robotics team has been relocated to Brandon High School.
The past championship team comprised of General Motors engineers, along with students from Holly and Brandon high schools, came looking for a new location following the closure of the GM Structural Development Laboratory in Pontiac.
‘The team leaders were seeking a high school to relocate ‘Holly High School was considered, but there was not sufficient room,? said Andy Spiece, BHS design and technological studies teacher and robotics team sponsor.
‘We took a trip down to the plant in Pontiac and checked out the equipment and made the deal.?
The Truck Town Thunder Robotics team, moved more than $500,000 in robotic equipment into Brandon High School over the summer. Spiece said currently 25 students have signed up for the team which is still in need of sponsors.
‘It’s uncertain if General Motors will continue to sponsor our team,? said Spiece.
‘We’ll continue to raise money to keep the Truck Town Thunder Robotics Team to continue.?
The team competed in three districts and state regional, and qualified there to go to national competition in Atlanta, Ga. last April where they finished second.
Spiece said the team will work at the Renaissance Festival to help raise money for the group.
