The Orion’s Veterans Memorial Committee and North Oakland VFW Post 334 are teaming with two individuals to offer a $400 reward for information leading to an arrest regarding damage done to the memorial on the weekend of March 30.
Anyone who has any knowledge as to who was responsible for the damage is urged to call the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department at (248)858-4950 and give the information to Deputy May at the Orion Sub Station.
The Orion Veteran’s Memorial Committee is providing $100 of the reward and the North Oakland VFW Post 334 is matching that sum. Two individuals are also each contributing $100.
The $400 total is being offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person or persons responsible for the damage.
According to Dr. Joe Mastromatteo, chairman of the Orion Veteran’s Memorial Committee, the act was more than just vandalism, but a desecration of a memorial dedicated to those who have given their lives protecting the liberties that we enjoy.
‘It was also an affront to the thousands of our residents who have donated their time, money or both in support of this memorial, which is dedicated to peace,? he said. ‘Hopefully this reward will result in the apprehension of the person or persons that committed this mindless desecration.?
