Results mixed for Independence Township manager slate

With all precincts reporting, Independence Township voters returned Supervisor David Wagner, Clerk Shelagh VanderVeen, and Trustee Larry Rosso to office, joined by newcomers Curt Carson for treasurer, and trustees Neil Wallace, Mark A. Petterson, and David Lohmeier.
Results were mixed for candidates who teamed up for change – they favor hiring a professional manager for the township. Three of six team members, VanderVeen, Wallace, and Lohmeier, were elected. The team’s leader, Trustee Dan Travis, running for supervisor, was defeated, along with treasurer candidate Jeff McGee, and trustee candidate Bart L. Clark.
