After phase two of a devastating ice storm hit Oakland County late Friday afternoon more than 370,000 residents were left in a long lasting deep freeze.
As of Monday, April 7, more than 200,000 residents were still without electricity.
DTE estimated the majority of those residents are in Northern Oakland County, and would not have power restored until Wednesday, April 9.
While the majority of Hadley Township and the Village of Ortonville had power returned by Saturday afternoon, Brandon Township residents were still in the dark as late as Tuesday evening.
‘The vast majority of the 200,000 should be restored by the end of the day on Wednesday April 9.?
DTE had more than 5,000 people focused on the restoration effort, with mutual aide crews coming in from Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Illinois, however Porter was concerned that Monday’s snow storm may hinder restoration efforts, causing further delays.
‘Of course our concern is about the adverse wether and the continued stress on the trees and the lines,? said Porter.
More than 5,000 power lines were down in Oakland County and more than 30,000 residents were without power in Lapeer County.
Until power is completely restored, Porter offered the following advice to avoid serious injury or property damage.
n Call 1-800-477-4747 to report downed power lines.
n Treat all downed power lines as if they are hot.
n If using a generator, disconnect the house circuit from the Detroit power line before hook up to the house.
