Renderoni’s Second Slice

Goodrich- Having found success in Clarkston, Renderoni’s Pizza and Deli Company has recently opened a location in town, bringing with them a taste of what they have to offer with Renderoni’s Second Slice.
Owner Tim Render says he was exposed to the food business from a young age through his family, learning the ropes of how to get top-shelf ingredients and provide consistent, quality service to customers. It was that dedication to quality which Render says helped build clientele at the Clarkston location and kept people coming back for more.
‘We’ve built, over the last three years, a great reputation. We kind of knew that we had something that was special,? says Render.
Render doesn’t mince words when explaining what sets his pizza apart from competitors.
‘We have the best pizza that you’ll ever have,? says Render. ‘It’s kind of the sum of its parts.?
Render says the ingredients he uses are nothing but the best, starting with unique bread he uses for his crust and continuing with a key ingredient to any pizza: the sauce.
‘We make the sauce from scratch and we buy the best of the best for that,? says Render.
Next comes a custom blend of cheeses, and a homemade touch with toppings. Sausage is cooked from scratch, chicken is roasted methodically, pepperoni is fresh.
With a menu including such specialty pizzas as White Pizza (extra cheese, blanco sauce, Romano, Ricotta and Feta cheese with roasted garlic) and Polynesian (extra cheese, cheddar, tangy barbeque sauce, roasted garlic, grilled chicken, bacon, pineapple and pepper rings), Renderoni’s is ready to serve more than the traditional slice with pepperoni.
However, gourmet pizza doesn’t necessarily mean gourmet prices; an extra large specialty pizza is $15.50.
Additional specialties include Sicilian Deep Dish Pizza with a caramelized cheese bottom, authentic Chicago Deep Dish Pizza ( which Render learned to make by studying the craft in Chicago), hand-tossed pizza and the Poppy Scott Special, a round pan pizza piled deep with cheese and toppings, then topped with pizza sauce and Romano cheese.
And while Render is a fan of all of his pies, he has a tip for first-time customers.
‘For anybody that’s a newbie, we like them to try our signature hand-tossed pizza the first time,? says Render, adding that its unique balance of ingredients is the perfect introduction to the menu.
Render says if he’s learned anything in the food business, it’s that consistency is key.
‘I’m consistent. If (customers) know they can rely on you and get that same consistency with the food, then you’re in a great place.?
