Clarkston’s soccer team would like to see opponents such as Kimball every game as, after a 2-0 win on Oct. 13, both of the Wolves wins in the OAA Division I have come against the Knights this year.
‘It was a good win. We held the ball 65 percent of the game. It is hard to lose when you hold the ball that long,? said Clarkston Coach Mark Whitcomb.
Clarkston had just one game last week and Whitcomb was pleased to see the extra practice pay off as specific drills prior to Clarkston’s win led to goals by Jake Prybycien and Kevin Pinkos. Oliver Kupe assisted on Pinkos? goal.
With their record at 5-12-1 (2-7-1), Whitcomb wants his team to focus eliminating mental mistakes with one game remaining before districts begin on Oct. 25.
Clarkston’s contest against Lake Orion on Oct. 18 finished too late for this edition of The Clarkston News. The Wolves make up a game against Rochester at home on Oct. 19. The match was originally scheduled for Sept. 22.
‘I told them before the Kimball game to treat this like a three game preseason,? said Whitcomb. ?(When the playoffs begin) everybody’s 0-0 and the first team to seven wins, wins.?
Clarkston has drawn Waterford Mott in the opening round of districts and will face the winner of Waterford Kettering and Rochester Adams should they advance.
