Recycle your Christmas trees at area parks

Don’t haul that Christmas tree to the trash. Take it to one of 10 county parks where it will be recycled into gardening mulch for pick up in the spring.
Near-by parks that are accepting Christmas trees include Orion Oaks in Orion Township, Addison Oaks near Oxford and Independence Oaks near Clarkston.
Trees will be accepted at all county parks Dec. 26-Jan. 10, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., seven days a week.
Orion Oaks and Independence Oaks will take trees through Jan. 31.
There is no charge to drop off trees. Plastic, tinsel and wire must be removed from trees. Large quanities leftover from commercial lots will not be accepted.
The parks systems will process the trees into wood chips.
Chips will be available free to the public on select Saturdays in 2005.
In celebration of Arbor Day, participants can pick up a free seedling at the Wint Nature Center at Independence Oaks April 23-May 1 (limit one per person).
Trees are to be dropped off at Orion Oaks on Clarkston Road.
