The Dragons of the tennis court fought a close battle against Clarkston on Sept. 13, but eventually feel to the greater depth of the Wolves.
Singles saw the Dragons only bring home one win, with senior Jesse Keller in the number two singles spot deftly beating his opponent. In the number one doubles spot sophomore Gavin Mills and senior Brian Van Rooyen won their match while junior Kyle Kutchek and senior Grant Wilson also took the number five doubles.
Unfortunately, that was all the Dragon managed to win. The final score was 6-3.
‘We had a lot of three setters which were very close,? said head coach Eric Bracciano. ‘It’s a tough match to a coach because a lot of those kids on Clarkston I train in private lessons and other leagues.?
Bracciano said the team’s strength is still in singles but even they need to work on their overall game. Meanwhile, the doubles teams are working on keeping their matches close to the net and close out matches whenever they can.
The team is now 1-3 on the season.
On Sept. 14 the team played in a tournament in Romeo and on Tuesday against Troy Athens. They will play on Thursday at home against Berkley.
