Olde World Canterbury Village may be the home to Christmas all year round, but on Aug. 11, it will also be the home to ‘Where the Pretty Bugs Live? when The Village Quilt Shoppe hosts a local quilt show.
The show will be held throughout Canterbury Village grounds, weather permitting (otherwise, the quilts will be displayed in the Canterbury Gift Shop).
All the quilts on display were made by local quilters who participate in the Village Quilt Shoppe’s Block-of-the-month program, designed by owner Carolyn Vagts.
Every member collected their blocks each month, and then used their creativity to create their own ‘masterpiece.? All 12 bugs had to be used by the quilters, but they could change their size and color to make them their own.
Vagts? creation is hanging in The Village Quilt Shoppe, and the show, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is free to the public, will display other creations based off her original blocks.
Vagts offers the Block-of-the-month program twice year, with one starting in January and the other in July. The cost is $1 a month, which includes the pattern and background fabric.
The newest program, ‘Angels Among Us,? started in July and the blocks are available through December 2007.
