Ski mask-wearing suspect steals bags of items from Kohl’s
Deputies were called to Kohl’s, 4872 S Baldwin Rd., at 5:44 p.m. Feb. 15 for a retail fraud report. An employee said that a man had entered the store wearing a ski mask.
The suspect began filling two Kohl’s bags very quickly with no regard to size or prices of the items. Once the bags were full the suspect exited the store, passing all points of purchase and making no attempt to pay for the items, and fled in a white Ford Explorer.
Deputies checked the vehicle information and discovered the vehicle was stolen. Detectives are investigating.

 

Suspected intoxicated man arrested after driving into a ditch
A 44-year-old Bruce Township man is facing Operating Under the Influence charges after crashing into a ditch in the S. Lapeer and Scripps roads area at 10:45 p.m. Feb. 15.
Deputies received a call about a vehicle in the ditch in the area and then located the vehicle and the driver.
Deputies had the man take field sobriety tests and a preliminary breath test. which yielded a result of .091 Blood Alcohol Content.
The driver was transported to a local hospital for a blood draw and subsequently safely taken to the Oakland County Jail and released in the morning.
Criminal charges are pending the lab results.

 

Man allegedly assaults girlfriend over the cost of his cigarettes
An Orion Township man was arrested and is facing a Domestic Violence charge after allegedly choking his girlfriend over repayment for a pack of cigarettes, according to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
Deputies went to the 600 block of Fairledge at 12:31 p.m. Feb. 16 for a domestic assault report when a 36-year-old Orion Township woman said she had given her boyfriend some money to purchase cigarettes and then he refused to pay the money back.
The victim said she went into the other room to calm down and then her boyfriend started kicking the door and screaming for her to leave. They continued to argue until her boyfriend started choking her and slammed her to the ground.
Based on statements made by both parties, and observations of the deputies, the 32-year-old Orion township man was arrested and taken to the Oakland County Jail.
The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office authorized a complaint for Domestic Violence. The suspect was arraigned in front of a magistrate at the 52nd 3rd District Court.

 

County Prosecutor’s Office declines charges in suspected domestic assault case
A 48-year-old Orion Township man was arrested for suspected domestic assault after allegedly pushing his girlfriend.
Deputies went to the 2600 block of Pineridge Court at 1:21 p.m. Feb. 16 for a domestic assault report when a 44-year-old Orion Township woman said that she had an argument with her boyfriend then he pushed her. As he was leaving the home, he damaged a door.
Deputies contacted the suspect by phone and spoke with him. All information was collected and turned over to the prosecutor’s office for review.
The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office declined to authorize a complaint for Domestic Violence.
