Orion Township and
The Village of Lake Orion
Mandatory Water Restrictions
From May 1st through September 30th, Orion Township and The Village of Lake Orion has adopted mandatory water restrictions into their Ordinances. The mandatory water restriction affects all commercial and residential water customers in Orion Township and The Village of Lake Orion. The ordinance refers to specific days and times you are allowed to water your lawn.
The mandatory water restriction is an effort to control less water usage during peak times and control future water rates. Water rates are set by Great Lakes Water Authority and our peak hour demand along with the maximum day demand has an impact on our cost.
Under the Ordinance, customers with automatic sprinkler systems are asked to water residential and commercial lawns, landscaping and subdivision common areas between the hours of midnight and 5:00 a.m.
With respect to the watering time, odd addresses are to water their lawns on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Even addresses are to follow the Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday guideline. Everyone may water their lawns on Sunday with no time specification.
Restrictions are for automatic sprinkler systems. Customers who do not have an automatic sprinkler system are asked to follow the same schedule for odd / even address and not to water between 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
